Is installation extra?

Yes. We'll come out to your home and do an estimate for you. Prices vary because houses vary.

How expensive is installation?

Because jobs vary so much, please call Pete & Tony at (612) 872-0202.

Why pay two-three grand when I can get something cheaper at Menard's?

First off, even if you buy cheap supplies, you still have to install it - and doing a custom plumbing, electrical, & carpentry installation can eat up your savings ... and your time, choreographing contractors.

Also, cheap equipment is cheap equipment. The Presto Bathroom features a ceramic pedestal sink and toilet, and the shower stall isn't some flip-floppy plastic wall. We use real moisture-resistant wallboard, top-quality electric fans and outlets, and real copper plumbing -- included in the price.

Could this be an inexpensive choice for an upstairs bathroom?

Yes, but we don't recommend it. It's harder to install, and usually the spaces on such floors aren't right. But it is possible.

What do you do to my basement?

Typically, a trench is dug through the floor to get to the sewer line, which is then patched. Also, the bathroom must be vented through a sewer stack, and through a fan exhaust.

What if I have tile or carpet on the floor?

Carpet can usually be lifted up and put back down. Tile will have to be replaced over the trench.

Do I have to build a room for this?

No! One of the advantages of the Presto Bathroom is that it can stand on its own. It's designed so you can build walls around it, but you don't have to.

How much floor space do I need?

bulletFor the Standard (Original) model with a 32-inch shower, 7 feet, 6 inches by 6 feet, 6 inches. If you get the 36-inch shower, you'll need     7'-10" x 6'-10".
bulletFor the Recessed-Sink model with a 32-inch shower, 7 feet, 11 inches by 5 feet. If you get a 36-inch shower, you'll need 8'-3" by 5'-4".

What if my basement floor is uneven?

No problem. We pour a concrete base to attach the Presto Bathroom to your floor and can even it out that way.

How much electrical work needs to be done?

The Presto Bathroom comes pre-wired. You need one 12-3 wire with two circuits to go to your fusebox. One circuit is a 20-amp GFI, the other is a 15-amp circuit. We've found this takes an electrician about an hour or two to hook up.

What are the Presto Bathroom's dimensions?

The Recessed Sink unit is 3 feet deep, 7 feet 11 inches wide, and 6 feet 6 inches high. Dimensions of unit with 32" shower.

Is it up to code in my city?

Presto Bathroom conforms to all Twin Cities codes.

How do you get it down my stairs?

The unit completely disassembles, and fits easily down a stairway.

Can I get the Presto Bathroom where I live?

We'll ship them anywhere in the country - the estimated average cost is $200. To see where we'll deliver them ourselves, click here.

What are the walls made of?

The sink and shower walls are covered with a moisture resistant wallboard. Inside the shower the finished walls have pre-moulded shelves for toiletries. All surfaces are designed to be easy to clean.

Tell me about the toilet.

It's a vitreous china low-flow (1.6 gallon) standard toilet with a great track record. We can also install a 'high mount' toilet which is easier on the knees.

And the sink?

Also ceramic, standard pedestal, with an American Standard faucet.

What about the electrical equipment?

Each PRESTO features an exhaust fan, a three-bulb vanity light, heater, and electrical outlet.

What options are available and how much do they cost?

bulletHi-Mount Toilet -- $75
bulletTaller Pedestal Lavatory -- $50
bulletA standard obscured-glass shower door -- $199
bulletA 36"-by-36" shower bay -- $199
bulletA 36" obscured-glass shower door -- $199

What color choices do I have?

To paraphrase Henry Ford, any color so long as it's white. Most customers want white, and we'd have to charge more to offer color selections. We say -- white compliments any color scheme.

Does it come with a shower curtain?

No, but you can buy any color you like!

Can I get brass instead of chrome?

See preceding answer. We only offer chrome to keep the price down.

Can I customize the walls with my own tile work?

Yes, but the price only drops $50, we don't save that much labor cost to build an unfinished unit.

How wide is the shower stall?

32 inches square. For comparison, each dimension is wider than most doorways.
